Well yesterday was a lovely day wasn't it!? because today EVERYTHING went to shit!! well, technically it was all my fault for deciding this insanity and like the old saying says "Fuck Around and Find Out" turned out to be hosting the server with a balancer server here in Madrid just down the street messed up the routings from the horrible ISPs in the US where most of the players are.
So I came up with a solution, I actually decided to use a new provider called HostHatch to spin a new balancer in .......Chicago of all places??
I actually wanted to use Chicago as the very first server area for a long time.I always had a soft spot for Chicago ever since I watched Gunsmith Cats
it's such a shame is a horrible shithole and a ultra dangerous city these days just like real Gotham City
Yet despite everything is like the best hub to do a NA/EU link to connect the new PSOBB server at home with NA and offer at least some decent ping so we can complete Stage 1 in Challenge Mode....which we did in the test... hooray!!
But anyways!! the PSO server is working again!!! and the website is also working too! now in the new address http://psobb.kiyomizu.moe
In the meantime im gonna...order something to eat....

Migration Insanity
Well is not a mystery I was working on the Promise server these days, I came up with a annoying roadblock on how to send mails to the users for their accounts because nobody can behave these days and we can't have a normal username/password/register flow anymore.
Because everyone wants to be a chinese bot and min-max everything!!!!
So I was just bullying monsters testing some of the dungeons in-game the other day, the server is coming along very nicely. I can't wait to die and lose all my gear.......but first i gotta open this thing to the public!!!!!
Then suddenly..... People began to play on the PSOBB server!! It was those mystery people that kept popping in the evenings while I was sleeping, I managed to finally catch them around turned out to be very nice people to hang out with we had a lot of conversations in the lobby from PSO technical stuff, Q&A and how to piss off liberals all in one package you cant ask for more~~
Honestly I was feeling very blackpilled lately so this was a very pleasant surprise, sadly they decided to play challenge mode and this is when I noticed the whole cmode was broken in the build that is currently in production.... so the new rabbit that appeeared in my life suggested to also give it a try to the self-host approach, so I quickly began to set up a prototype at home.
Initially my plan was to only host in the homelab the Lineage server but since the infra was/is/maybe is already working, was just a matter of adding 2 more iptables to allow the PSOBB connection
Next step was to automate the whole newserv deployment now with ansible anxiety so I don't run into the same issue I had before, as long theres a new push in the main repo this kinda acts like a pseudo CI/CD pipeline and deploys
but als gets rid of all the modded shit too
But anyways its coming along nicely now soon we will be hosting everything from home, I think its the best move to dont rely on shitty VPS anymore
BUT NOW IF ONLY I CAN MAKE THE MAIL SERVER WORK!?! I need to send mails by the love of god!!!!
